Now that I got my restaurant's name sorted, the next thing that I've got to do is to design its logo. As I was browsing the Internet for inspiration, I came across with these creative typographic logo designs done by talented designers.
It is a sushi restaurant logo made by Alen Pavlovi
What interests me with this logo is its simplicity. It always amazes me everytime a simple yet brilliant idea creates a powerful and effective design. To me, forming the stems of 'H' in "sushi" in to two chopsticks, and its bar to a red dot (to signify sushi), is really clever. Although I would prefer if the chopsticks would go a bit higher, and the sushi dot lower (as it look weird having the sushi in the middle of the two chopsticks), I still find the concept really nice and memorable. I think the logo works really well with the restaurant it representing.
This logo reminds me of the campaign that was produced when a company was
promoting the large vegetarian restaurant in Switzerland named Tibits
To demonstrate the freshness of Tibits foods, its company had produced an oversized forks that were soon fixed in to trees. With this idea, a number of trees appeared like a massive cauliflower.Having this similarity with the Tony's restaurant logo gives me an impression that the both are pertaining to the same idea- the foods that Tony's and Tibits restaurant cater are fresh.
(Going back to the logo) For designing a logo of an organic restaurant, I am actually not sure if I would use thick sanserif typeface for the logo type. Now looking at the logo, it appears to me that the restaurant's target audience are kids (which maybe is the case, I don’t know). I think one of the reasons why its company has chosen the typeface is so that it would go well with the thickness of the fork graphic (which I think make sense).
When it comes to colours, I love the ones that have been used. Using earthy colours such as green and brown effectively supports the concept of the organic restaurant.
Here's another creative typographic logo that I have found and like. Again, the idea is very simple but really clever and powerful. Using an Arial bold type as the font and with the letter 'I' lying horizontally, effectively reinforce the meaning of the company's name. It is very straightforward as you would get the killed message quickly. I guess, one of the comments that I may give to this logo is, it doesn't really say something about the company it is representing. Because to me it is just an idea of having the 'I' laying horizontally to get the killed idea across. I am also not sure if the letter 'I' falls on the right side as it seems that the letter is backwards. However I am also not sure if it would feel right if it falls on the other side.
These are the kind of approaches that I want for my restaurant's logo. Simple but effective. We don't really need to have a complicated design inorder for our logo to work.
Below are 3 more examples of brilliant logo designs.
